In 1910 the CVJM (a Christian youth organisation) took out a lease on the property and built a summer residence. This was converted into a rest home in 1925 following plans by leading architects. Further additions followed, such as the Lindensaal in 1933 - now lovingly renovated and available as an event venue.

In the postwar period, having passed to the city of Stuttgart, the estate served as a reception centre for homecoming soldiers. The CVJM returned in 1952, using it as a guesthouse. The complex was renovated in 1979 and re-opened in 1981 as the Waldhotel Degerloch.
